Lanesboro Launches the Holiday Season the Weekend of December 2nd & 3rd!

It’s almost the most wonderful time of the year! Lanesboro is getting ready to celebrate the holiday season on the first weekend of December, so gather your friends and family and come join in on the festivities. Here in Lanesboro, we love Christmas! Lanesboro will be the place you want to be on December 1st through 3rd. There is nothing quite as joyful as the sound of voices singing traditional Christmas carols and holiday tunes along the street. The Victorian Carolers will be caroling from inn to inn during the Lanesboro Christmas Inn Tour on Sunday, December 3rd. The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge will be playing at The Commonweal Theatre throughout the weekend as well. Here is an itinerary of all the festivities taking place in town for you to plan your holiday getaway this season.

The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge is a delightful spoof on a holiday classic that will have you cheering! This play starts November 16th and plays through December 22nd. If you plan on a visit to Lanesboro the first weekend of December, you will want to catch one of the following showings: Friday, December 1st at 7:30 pm, Saturday, December 2nd at 1:30 pm and also at 7:30 pm, and Sunday, December 3rd at 1:30 pm. Bring your dancing shoes to town! Lanesboro will be hosting a Holiday Dinner Dance at the Lanesboro Community Center on December 2nd, 2017. This event has long been a favorite way to bring in the holiday season. Anyone who wants to come and enjoy a great dinner, mingle, and dance the night away is welcome. There will be a fantastic live band, The Dakota Ramblers. This talented group will keep the dance floor filled with Rock n’ Roll and Classic Country dance music. A social hour starts at 6:00 pm with complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. At 7:00 pm, dinner by Sarah McCallson, Executive Chef at Eagle Bluff Environmental Center will be served. This dinner will feature one of her signature entrees with a mouthwatering dessert. Vegetarian dinner options are available upon request. This is a BYOB event, so stop at Granny’s Liquors and bring your favorite beverages along! Setups and ice will be available. Reservations to this event are required before November 30th. Brandt Roberts will perform in “The Art of the Entertainer” in three performances! They will take place on Friday, December 1st and Saturday, 2nd at 7 pm and Sunday, December 3rd at 5 pm. Lanesboro Arts presents “The Art of the Entertainer,” a comedic one-man show. The story follows the role of Gerald, a janitor at a vaudeville theatre in the 1930’s who finds a dusty record late one night inside an old steamer trunk. The record is entitled The Art of the Entertainer: an audio guide to the art of live performance. Gerald embarks on an adventure through the theatrical realm. It becomes a night shift filled with audience participation, music and various sketches. The St. Mane Theatre box office will be open for business at 6 pm on the day of the event. Tickets are $10. Prior to the Inn Tour, noted author and local historian Ted St. Mane will be doing a presentation on the History of Lanesboro. Within his presentation, he will be highlighting the history of the Lanesboro Inns. This free event will take place at The Commonweal Theatre reception hall at 10:45 am on Sunday, December 3rd.

  

Be sure to stop in for a bite to eat at one of the wonderful restaurants that will be open for the first weekend in December. Pedal Pushers, Old Village Hall and The Bite will all be open for your enjoyment. The Granary will serve wine, beer and warm beverages to warm you up as well. While in town, you may want to purchase one of the limited-edition Christmas ornaments celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Lanesboro Dam. The ornament, produced by the Deneen Pottery company in St. Paul, sells for $10 and is available at each of the inns. Established in 1868, the dam will be renovated in 2018 and is a treasured icon of the Lanesboro community. Be sure to take one of these special ornaments home to hang on your tree! You may also check at the chamber in Lanesboro for more ornaments once the inns start to sell out. For musical entertainment, The High Court Pub will have live music on Saturday, December 2nd. The band Wayward will perform at 8:30 pm.

On Sunday, December 3rd, Lanesboro will be hosting the popular Christmas Inn Tour between 2-6 pm. Stela Burdt and Scott Dixon will be charitable recipients of a portion of the proceeds. Support Scott Dixon and his family with medical expenses from colon cancer. This event is a wonderful way to help spread awareness of this disease and contribute to a good cause. The Lanesboro Area Christmas Inn Tour will showcase eight area bed & breakfasts/ inns charmingly decorated for the holiday season.
